MY REVIEW

5 Anxiety stars
The story of Ariana and Zolaya was absolutely perfect.

This book is set as a flashback to the beginning. In the beginning, we get a glimpse of how Ariana is doing after eight years on the planet, now pregnant with her second kit. Zolaya is out hunting and has been gone for a long time, which doesn’t do well with Ariana’s mind. So to calm her brain, she relies on her moments with Zolaya.

Green and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-8
People don’t understand Ariana. She suffers from severe anxiety and freaks out about the smallest thing. Just her lunch, she gets abducted by aliens and ends up in a cargo ship with other females. When she wakes up, there are big blue aliens on an ice planet where the kidnappers dumped their ship. Her anxiety goes over the roof, and nobody understands why she cries all the time. No-one except one hunky blue alien.

“The smile that blooms across his face is worth it, though. He’s looking at me with such approval that I feel like I already conquered one of my demons. “Very brave,” he tells me.”

Zolaya understands the human female that cowers from everybody and cries a lot. And he wants to console her. When Ariana gets her Khui, they resonate to each other, but because of Ariana’s anxiety, Zolaya promises to take it slow, starting as friends.

“My mate, your enthusiasm will leave me so spent I will be bedridden.”

Barbarian’s Tease (Ice Planet Barbarians #15) by Ruby Dixon

SYNOPSIS

It should have been a one-night stand.
I never intended to seduce Taushen, but things happened. I don’t dwell on the past and while it was great, I’m not looking for a relationship. Of course, try telling that to Taushen. The big blue alien’s in love after one night, and it’s making things darn 35554313._SY475_awkward. We’ve got bigger problems than whether or not I’m his woman, like the ‘cargo’ of the space ship that landed here.
But Taushen’s not giving up. He thinks I’m his mate.

And he’ll do anything to keep me.

MY REVIEW

4 Teasing Stars

I’m kind of sad the series is coming to an end; however, we do get books with the already mated couples: Ariana/Zolaya, Marlene/Zennek, and Megan/Cashol and I’m hoping Sessah gets his book soon.

Anyhow, in this beautiful and steamy book, we get to read about pink-haired Brooke and brooding Taushen. They had been captivated by the slavers and locked together in one of the pods. The slavers had ‘roofied’ Brooke so that she and Taushen could mate and make kits for them to sell. Taushen, however, has no clue of this and believes Brooke truly wants him as her mate; only when Brooke wakes up the next day, she makes it very clear she did what she did to save them and the tribe.

Taushen is now kind of heartbroken and frustrated at Brooke, who seems to flirt with all the males. He feels strongly for the female, but she doesn’t give him her attention, so Taushen seeks advice from his brother, and with Hassen’s help, he manages to ‘kidnap’ Brooke.

Ah. These men and their kidnapping ways.

description

“I want all of it. I want everything you have. I want your tears, your touches, your smiles, your frowns. I want it all, and I do not wish to share. I want to put you in my furs and devour you whole.”

While Brooke is not happy with Taushen stealing her, she doesn’t want to go back to the tribe right away, and she wants Taushen to be her friend. He, being the sweetheart that he is, accepts and keeps everything with Brooke platonic. Brooke is okay with this at first but soon realizes she loved his affection and possessiveness.

I liked Brooke, but Taushen was the star of this book. He was super jealous that Brooke would resonate to the unmated aliens in the pods and wanted her for himself. He wants her to only touch his mane and only flirt with him. His reaction when his khui started singing along with Brookes’ was the best one yet. He was so innocent and just perfect.

Brooke leans in and pinches my cheeks. “Oh my god, that is so cuuuuute! Seriously, I could eat you up. Look at how jealous you are! I love it!”

I’m looking forward to reading the last couple of books in this series and also every book Ruby Dixon has written.

Barbarian’s Rescue (Ice Planet Barbarians #14) by Ruby Dixon

SYNOPSIS

Bad day? Try mine on for size.
Rogue slavers have landed on the ice planet and captured the tribe. The only ones not snatched? Me, a walking human motormouth with no skill except that of incoherent babbling, and Warrek, who’s as silent as he is attractive. Two more unlikely people have 35423630._SY475_never been paired together.
And now we’re supposed to form a rescue team.
Saving the others is either going to bring us closer together – or drive us completely apart. I’m pretty sure the feelings I’m having for my alien companion are as unrequited as they are inappropriate, but since we aren’t going to make it out alive, what harm is one teeny, tiny kiss?

Who knew that one kiss could change everything?

MY REVIEW

4.5 Rambling Stars

Warrek was such a sweetheart with a kind soul, and Summer was just the right woman for him.

Summer is one of the females that were sold as a slave to Bek along with the other women. She’s the talker of the group, and her rambling was hilarious. Warrek is the complete opposite of her, he’s quiet and ‘shy.’ He teaches the kits to hunt and has given up on ever finding his mate.

“The women here are treated incredibly well by their mates. And they’re all ridiculously happy. It’s hard not to want that. And the guys are hot. Like seven-foot-tall, muscular as all get out, flowing dark hair, every female’s fantasy kind of hot.”

This book picks up where we left it in the previous book. Summer and Warrek are out collecting fruit for the tribe when the Tranquil Lady is seen arriving on the planet again. Summer and Warrek watch helplessly as unfamiliar aliens- slavers -drug and abduct their people and holds them captive on the ship. (view spoiler)

Now Summer and Warrek need to rescue their family and to do that they need to work together. Their chemistry was off the charts, and I loved that Warrek was quiet with the others but talked comfortably with Summer, and he was sexily demanding with her as well. And when Summer gave Warrek an anatomy lesson of the human body; fire!

“If we survive this night, I am claiming you as my pleasure-mate.”
I gasp. “You—you what? You are?”
He nods. “You will show me this kiss with tongue, and I will take you to my furs and make you mine. I have decided.”
“Decided?” I echo, stunned. I can still feel the light brush of his lips against mine.
“Yes. You are my opponent, and I am going to take control of your board.”
That’s the sexiest, most bizarre thing I’ve ever heard.

Barbarian’s Lady (Ice Planet Barbarians #13) by Ruby Dixon

SYNOPSIS

You’d think a tall woman would fit in on a planet of seven-foot-tall aliens, but even on the ice planet, I’m still a weirdo and an oddity. I’m everything all the other cute, dainty human women aren’t.
One guy in particular – the alien Harrec – is determined to embarrass me by pretending 34490323._SY475_he’s interested. He’s a jokester that flirts like mad and hits on me constantly just to make me feel foolish. He gets under my skin. He makes me so frustrated I want to scream.
When a side-trip to a glacier turns into a nightmare and the two of us are forced to survive alone, I see another side to the enticing blue alien. Even with no one else around, his compliments keep coming and I start wondering if the attraction between us… is real.

MY REVIEW

4 Stars

I love this series! It is the perfect time to read about a whole other planet and get away from everything that is happening in our world at the moment.

This book is about Kate and Harrec. Kate is one of the women Bek bought in the previous book, and she’s different from the other human females. She’s built differently; taller and stronger than the others, she feels like the odd one out even among the big blue aliens. And to make matters worse, the flirty alien keeps teasing her.

“My eyes!” he’d cried out, putting a hand to his chest dramatically. “Look at this mountain of a human!” And he’d pointed right at me.
The other had laughed, and Harrec had looked delighted at his joke. Me, I’d wanted to crawl under a rock and hide away.

Harrec fell in love with Kate the moment he laid eyes on her. She was stronger than the other and just what he wanted in his mate. Although they haven’t resonated, he still feels strongly for her and wants her in his furs. So when the unmated aliens and humans set off for the Elders’ Cave, he forms a plan to get Kate alone for a few days. Only things don’t go as planned, and he ends up injured and in the care of Kate.

“A fierce hunter like myself needs more encouragement than that. Will you let me mouth-mate you?”

Once they’re away from the group, Kate realizes that Harrec’s teasing is not to belittle her or to make fun of her; he compliments her because he wants her. Their bickering was hilarious, and I loved how cheeky and flirtatious Harrec was towards Kate.

“Make no mistake, pretty Kate,” he murmurs to me. “I still intend to woo you. I will give you time to get over your shyness, but just because we have not resonated does not mean that my heart will forget yours.”

❝ Will you do me the greatest honor of all time and be my bridegroom? ❞

This book landed on my kindle at the perfect time. With all the Covid-19 shit I needed to get away and Meghan Quinn delivered the perfect getaway.

Green and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-8

I’ve had books where I’ve giggled here and there but I completely fell off my chair laughing while reading this book. It was amazing, really. Charlee Cox, our main woman, was H I L A R I O U S ! She’s loves office supplies…wait, I mean she’s kind of obsessed. So when she’s at the Second Annual Office Supply Con, NYC she meets a rude and arrogant man, Rath Westin, and he’s not as interested in office supplies such as Charlee.

“Don’t you feel the excitement buzzing in the air? This is the mecca of all pens and paper. Products like the erasable pen were first found here, and whiteout tape . . . don’t even get me started.”
He blinks.
Stares.
Blinks.
Finally. “You’re deranged.”
Insulted, my eyes widen as I clutch my hand to my chest. “You’re offensive.”

Rath is looking for an assistant and when Rath’s best friends’ assistant advices that Charlee is the perfect candidate, he accepts and offers her the job. The first day on the job doesn’t quite go right and Rath ends up firing Charlee. Only the next day, she comes back and pretends nothing happened the day before.

“She takes my arm again and drags me down the hallway. I’m speechless. Confused.
I fired her yesterday, right?
That’s what happened. I told her to leave . . .
So why is she here looking like Miss Frizzle and acting like we’re at freshman orientation?”

When Charlee’s grandma falls sick, she’s heartbroken. Her grandmas wish is to see Charlee married to the perfect man, and Charlee is scared her grandma is not going to get to see her walk down the aisle. So Rath asks Charlee to marry him and convinces her the marriage will benefit them both.

“Doesn’t have to be a random person.” He pauses, his chest rising and falling faster than before. Time stretches between us as his eyes bore down on mine. It feels like ten minutes pass before he finally licks his lips and says, “Marry me.”
The room stills and only the light hum of his computer fills the silence as I try to comprehend what he just said.
Marry him?”

The relationship between Charlee and Rath was perfect and their chemistry was off the charts! Their banter and dioluge was awesome and so hilarious. This is a perfect read.

MY REVIEW

5+ stars!
Bek is by far my favorite alien hunk. Oh my god! I was so unsure of Bek in the previous books. He was so grumpy and desperate for a mate so I assumed his story would be quite whiny, but boy was I WRONG!

Green and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-8

The book picks up where we left it in the previous book. Bek has asked Cap-tan and Trakan to help him buy human slaves and bring them back to the Ice Planet. They do and bring back five human women that have been sold to them as slaves. Among these women, there is one who’s different from the other. She’s quiet and hides behind her filthy hair and stinky odor.

“You’re standing there in a fur diaper and you’re going to give her shit about her bathing habits?”

Elly was abducted by aliens ten years ago and has since been a slave to aliens. She’s had a couple of ‘masters’ and has been poorly treated by them all. She’s lost faith, and so when two big blue aliens come and buy her and her fellow humans, she’s broken. Elly has created a wall of filth that has protected her from being sold. No one wants a dirty, stinky slave. So when she’s sold off, she tries to escape a couple of times but always fails.

When they land on the Ice Planet and are taken to the tribe, everybody is furious with Bek for stooping so low, and he’s shunned from the tribe. And when Elly gets her sa-khui, Bek and she resonates. But because of Elly’s past, she’s unsure and scared of all aliens, especially the one that bought her.

“You are my world, my mate.” I study her beloved face, humbled that I am lucky enough to resonate to such a female. “I wanted a mate, but I never imagined one as perfect as you. I am lucky beyond my wildest dreams.”

Bek however will not give up on his mate. He has waited this long, he can wait some time more. I loved how patient he was with Elly. Accepting her, dirt and all. When he would take a bite of her food before giving it to her to reassure her that nothing had been poisoned, I completely swooned. He was such a grump to everyone except for his mate.

“Bek, I never had a home before I got here. I was never safe. You are my home. You are my safe. I’m with you forever.”

That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby. 43582648._SX318_

Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.

Three things Dr. Dick knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly irresistible.

Dr. Dick is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals that she’s pregnant.

What really throws him for a loop…is that the surprise baby…is his.

MY REVIEW

After reading three 1 star books, I needed a rom-com to brighten my mood and One Moment Please was just the right thing. This is the first book I’ve read by Amy, and I’m reading more of her for sure.

Green and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-7

Lynsey has been occupying a seat in the hospital cafeteria for a couple of weeks, trying to finish her thesis. The one place that helps her focus is the cafeteria, where there is also a grumpy doctor that had caught her eye.

Dr. Dick, erm Josh, has been noticing the woman who keeps visiting the hospital cafeteria. She’s always there, and he doesn’t understand why. Their first interaction is very interesting, to say the least. So is their second meeting.

Three months after their one-night stand, Josh and Lynsey meet again in the ER, where Josh finds out Lynsey is pregnant with his baby. From there, their story begins, and I absolutely loved their relationship.

description

Josh hands me a bottle of water while cracking a beer for himself. I eye it enviously. “Tell me what it tastes like. Describe it in vivid detail.”
“It’s IPA,” he grumbles, wincing slightly at his first sip, “which means it tastes like piss
I sigh dopily. “Sounds magical.”

MY REVIEW

5 ‘little one’ StarsGreen and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-4

Ruby Dixon has fast become one of my favorite authors. I’m not entirely done with the Ice Planet Series, but when I read the blurb for this book, I one-clicked it and devoured it. It was a quick and sweet read, and I enjoyed every second of it.

Kivian, our sexy, pirate hero, is the captain of his ship, Dancing Fool, and along with his three companions, they plan to rob crystals off one of their contacts. Only plans change the moment he sees a human woman, chained and collared, and he feels possessiveness towards her.

Fran, our heroine, has been sold as a slave for a ‘frog’ looking alien, who she names Froggy. She’s been abducted from the earth just like the heroines in the previous series. Fern has been treated like trash since she woke up, starved, and tired.

But then she’s rescued by a pirate.

Their relationship starts out as friends and develops into them becoming mates. Kivian was very patient with Fern and didn’t rush her, which I loved. And Fern was also a very likable character.

“We can’t do this,” I tell her, caressing her cheek with my thumb. “It’s not right.”
“What’s not right about it? We haven’t even gotten to the tongues yet.”
Tongues? Have mercy.

I’m very excited about the other books in this series.

MY REVIEW

This book was long…and slow but so funny!

Green and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-3

Our Heroine, Faith, keeps hearing weird noises from the apartment next to hers. When she decides to check on the noise one night, she falls into a whole other world. There she is, in her nightgown, in a place that is nothing like earth. She’s sold as a slave before she offers herself as the anchor to the Battle God.

Aron, God of Storm and Battle, is an aspect, and he needs an anchor to stay alive on the mortal lands. When Faith offers herself as his anchor, he’s glad—or as glad as the arrogant god can be. After Faith and Aron are attacked, they escape and start their journey through the mortal world.

“He sniffs my hair again, and I wonder if he’s hard right now. Is he overcome with lust for me? “You smell bad,” Aron says. “When was the last time you bathed?” Man, fuck this guy.”

The bickering between Aron and Faith was hilarious! Faith was never afraid to speak her mind, and Aron’s arrogance made their dialogue so much fun to read. I laughed out loud multiple times. As I mentioned before, this is a real slow-burn romance. There was almost no romance until I was halfway through the book. However, there were cute scenes between these characters and hilarious dialogue, and that’s what kept me reading.

MY REVIEW:

Wow! Just mind-blowing.

This is a new to me author, and I absolutely loved this book and the characters.

Olivia works as a dancer at a strip club. One night after work, on her way home from work, she hears some ruckus in an alley and checks it out. What she sees is not what she expected; a man getting killed. And the killer sees her. Olivia calls the police and is put in Police Protection; only the police fail to protect her from the attacks of the killer.

Andrusha is the cold-hearted leader of the Vancouver Russian Mafia, and it’s important to him that the woman who is in police protection testifies against Ivan Bunko. One night, Andrusha and Viktor decide to check up on the witness, and while they’re surveilling the area, there’s an attack on the victim.

Olivia is saved by Andrusha and taken to his warehouse. All she wants is to get back to police protection, and her wish is granted; only once again, she’s attacked, and her only choice is Andrusha. No one except him can keep her safe and alive.

“Please let me go. I won’t tell anyone anything. I won’t testify.”
Annoyance crossed his face. “Sweetheart, if we survive the next ten minutes, you’re going to testify.”

I loved Andrusha but Olivia I absolutely adored. She was so strong and such a beautiful person that had such bad luck in her life. I appreciate that the author didn’t change Olivia’s personality as the story went on. I’ve read Mafia books where the heroine is a doormat in the beginning, and then out of nowhere, she’s this sexy, mouthy woman that the hero can’t resist. Olivia, however, was such a lovable character.

“He had told me that saving me was his atonement for living the life he did, but he didn’t seem to realize that it was his love that had saved me, not his guns.”

The chemistry between Andrusha and Olivia was off the charts! The pace was absolutely perfect, we got to see their relationship as friends and then how that developed into so much more.
