❝ Will you do me the greatest honor of all time and be my bridegroom? ❞

This book landed on my kindle at the perfect time. With all the Covid-19 shit I needed to get away and Meghan Quinn delivered the perfect getaway.

I’ve had books where I’ve giggled here and there but I completely fell off my chair laughing while reading this book. It was amazing, really. Charlee Cox, our main woman, was H I L A R I O U S ! She’s loves office supplies…wait, I mean she’s kind of obsessed. So when she’s at the Second Annual Office Supply Con, NYC she meets a rude and arrogant man, Rath Westin, and he’s not as interested in office supplies such as Charlee.

“Don’t you feel the excitement buzzing in the air? This is the mecca of all pens and paper. Products like the erasable pen were first found here, and whiteout tape . . . don’t even get me started.”
He blinks.
Stares.
Blinks.
Finally. “You’re deranged.”
Insulted, my eyes widen as I clutch my hand to my chest. “You’re offensive.”

Rath is looking for an assistant and when Rath’s best friends’ assistant advices that Charlee is the perfect candidate, he accepts and offers her the job. The first day on the job doesn’t quite go right and Rath ends up firing Charlee. Only the next day, she comes back and pretends nothing happened the day before.

“She takes my arm again and drags me down the hallway. I’m speechless. Confused.
I fired her yesterday, right?
That’s what happened. I told her to leave . . .
So why is she here looking like Miss Frizzle and acting like we’re at freshman orientation?”

When Charlee’s grandma falls sick, she’s heartbroken. Her grandmas wish is to see Charlee married to the perfect man, and Charlee is scared her grandma is not going to get to see her walk down the aisle. So Rath asks Charlee to marry him and convinces her the marriage will benefit them both.

“Doesn’t have to be a random person.” He pauses, his chest rising and falling faster than before. Time stretches between us as his eyes bore down on mine. It feels like ten minutes pass before he finally licks his lips and says, “Marry me.”
The room stills and only the light hum of his computer fills the silence as I try to comprehend what he just said.
Marry him?”

The relationship between Charlee and Rath was perfect and their chemistry was off the charts! Their banter and dioluge was awesome and so hilarious. This is a perfect read.

MY REVIEW

5+ stars!
Bek is by far my favorite alien hunk. Oh my god! I was so unsure of Bek in the previous books. He was so grumpy and desperate for a mate so I assumed his story would be quite whiny, but boy was I WRONG!

Green and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-8

The book picks up where we left it in the previous book. Bek has asked Cap-tan and Trakan to help him buy human slaves and bring them back to the Ice Planet. They do and bring back five human women that have been sold to them as slaves. Among these women, there is one who’s different from the other. She’s quiet and hides behind her filthy hair and stinky odor.

“You’re standing there in a fur diaper and you’re going to give her shit about her bathing habits?”

Elly was abducted by aliens ten years ago and has since been a slave to aliens. She’s had a couple of ‘masters’ and has been poorly treated by them all. She’s lost faith, and so when two big blue aliens come and buy her and her fellow humans, she’s broken. Elly has created a wall of filth that has protected her from being sold. No one wants a dirty, stinky slave. So when she’s sold off, she tries to escape a couple of times but always fails.

When they land on the Ice Planet and are taken to the tribe, everybody is furious with Bek for stooping so low, and he’s shunned from the tribe. And when Elly gets her sa-khui, Bek and she resonates. But because of Elly’s past, she’s unsure and scared of all aliens, especially the one that bought her.

“You are my world, my mate.” I study her beloved face, humbled that I am lucky enough to resonate to such a female. “I wanted a mate, but I never imagined one as perfect as you. I am lucky beyond my wildest dreams.”

Bek however will not give up on his mate. He has waited this long, he can wait some time more. I loved how patient he was with Elly. Accepting her, dirt and all. When he would take a bite of her food before giving it to her to reassure her that nothing had been poisoned, I completely swooned. He was such a grump to everyone except for his mate.

“Bek, I never had a home before I got here. I was never safe. You are my home. You are my safe. I’m with you forever.”

One Moment Please (Wait With Me #3) by Amy Daws

SYNOPSIS

That awkward moment when an ER doctor has to inform you that you’re pregnant…with his baby. 43582648._SX318_

Three things Lynsey Jones knows about the hot doctor: he’s grouchy, an arrogant jerk, and strangely obsessed with pie.

Three things Dr. Dick knows: he doesn’t talk about his past, he doesn’t do relationships, and the crazy girl in the hospital cafeteria who ate a fistful of French silk pie…is annoyingly irresistible.

After a chance meetup at a bar and a heated cab ride together, things come to a head and now instead of hating each other, they’re horizontal in a bed.

Three months later, the weird cafeteria stalker who crept out of Dr. Dick’s house like a thief in the night, winds up as his patient in the ER after her Tinder date from hell.
Dr. Dick is prepared to keep it cool and professional. That is until her bloodwork reveals that she’s pregnant.

What really throws him for a loop…is that the surprise baby…is his.

After reading three 1 star books, I needed a rom-com to brighten my mood and One Moment Please was just the right thing. This is the first book I’ve read by Amy, and I’m reading more of her for sure.

Green and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-7

Lynsey has been occupying a seat in the hospital cafeteria for a couple of weeks, trying to finish her thesis. The one place that helps her focus is the cafeteria, where there is also a grumpy doctor that had caught her eye.

Dr. Dick, erm Josh, has been noticing the woman who keeps visiting the hospital cafeteria. She’s always there, and he doesn’t understand why. Their first interaction is very interesting, to say the least. So is their second meeting.

Three months after their one-night stand, Josh and Lynsey meet again in the ER, where Josh finds out Lynsey is pregnant with his baby. From there, their story begins, and I absolutely loved their relationship.

description

Josh hands me a bottle of water while cracking a beer for himself. I eye it enviously. “Tell me what it tastes like. Describe it in vivid detail.”
“It’s IPA,” he grumbles, wincing slightly at his first sip, “which means it tastes like piss
I sigh dopily. “Sounds magical.”

MY REVIEW

5 ‘little one’ StarsGreen and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-4

Ruby Dixon has fast become one of my favorite authors. I’m not entirely done with the Ice Planet Series, but when I read the blurb for this book, I one-clicked it and devoured it. It was a quick and sweet read, and I enjoyed every second of it.

Kivian, our sexy, pirate hero, is the captain of his ship, Dancing Fool, and along with his three companions, they plan to rob crystals off one of their contacts. Only plans change the moment he sees a human woman, chained and collared, and he feels possessiveness towards her.

Fran, our heroine, has been sold as a slave for a ‘frog’ looking alien, who she names Froggy. She’s been abducted from the earth just like the heroines in the previous series. Fern has been treated like trash since she woke up, starved, and tired.

But then she’s rescued by a pirate.

Their relationship starts out as friends and develops into them becoming mates. Kivian was very patient with Fern and didn’t rush her, which I loved. And Fern was also a very likable character.

“We can’t do this,” I tell her, caressing her cheek with my thumb. “It’s not right.”
“What’s not right about it? We haven’t even gotten to the tongues yet.”
Tongues? Have mercy.

I’m very excited about the other books in this series.

Bound To The Battle God (Aspect and Anchor #1) by Ruby Dixon

SYNOPSIS

When I went to my neighbour’s apartment to investigate strange sounds, I never 50841330._SX318_SY475_expected to fall through a portal into another world. Yet here I am, a stranger in an even stranger land… and I’m stranded. In this world, might makes right, men carry swords, and gods walk the earth. Within minutes of arriving, I’m enslaved!

Fun place…

How do I get home? GREAT question. Wish I had an answer!

The one person that might be able to help me is also the one person I want to throttle most. Aron, Lord of Storms, Butcher God of Battle, is my new companion. Or rather, I’m his. As Aron’s anchor to the mortal realm, I’m the one that’s supposed to be guiding him through his exile in the mortal world…

Ha. Joke’s on him. I know nothing about this place!

But Aron and I have a common goal – get home. And we’re bonded – anchor and god – with a bond unlike any other. So we travel together. We bicker. We bathe together. We fight our many, many enemies together. And sure, he’s a god, but he’s also an arrogant jerk. Brawny, smoking hot, irresistible jerk. I should want nothing to do with him. I certainly shouldn’t want to do things to him…

Mortals and gods don’t mix. We stick to the plan and ignore our attraction. Focused, with one goal in mind…

One task…
One goal…
Focused!

I-oh heck, I’m going to end up kissing him again, aren’t I?

MY REVIEW

4 Stars!

This book was long…and slow but so funny!

Green and Gray Typographic Beauty and Fashion Business Card-3

Our Heroine, Faith, keeps hearing weird noises from the apartment next to hers. When she decides to check on the noise one night, she falls into a whole other world. There she is, in her nightgown, in a place that is nothing like earth. She’s sold as a slave before she offers herself as the anchor to the Battle God.

Aron, God of Storm and Battle, is an aspect, and he needs an anchor to stay alive on the mortal lands. When Faith offers herself as his anchor, he’s glad—or as glad as the arrogant god can be. After Faith and Aron are attacked, they escape and start their journey through the mortal world.

“He sniffs my hair again, and I wonder if he’s hard right now. Is he overcome with lust for me? “You smell bad,” Aron says. “When was the last time you bathed?” Man, fuck this guy.”

The bickering between Aron and Faith was hilarious! Faith was never afraid to speak her mind, and Aron’s arrogance made their dialogue so much fun to read. I laughed out loud multiple times. As I mentioned before, this is a real slow-burn romance. There was almost no romance until I was halfway through the book. However, there were cute scenes between these characters and hilarious dialogue, and that’s what kept me reading.

MY REVIEW:

5+ Stars

Wow! Just mind-blowing.

This is a new to me author, and I absolutely loved this book and the characters.

Olivia works as a dancer at a strip club. One night after work, on her way home from work, she hears some ruckus in an alley and checks it out. What she sees is not what she expected; a man getting killed. And the killer sees her. Olivia calls the police and is put in Police Protection; only the police fail to protect her from the attacks of the killer.

Andrusha is the cold-hearted leader of the Vancouver Russian Mafia, and it’s important to him that the woman who is in police protection testifies against Ivan Bunko. One night, Andrusha and Viktor decide to check up on the witness, and while they’re surveilling the area, there’s an attack on the victim.

Olivia is saved by Andrusha and taken to his warehouse. All she wants is to get back to police protection, and her wish is granted; only once again, she’s attacked, and her only choice is Andrusha. No one except him can keep her safe and alive.

“Please let me go. I won’t tell anyone anything. I won’t testify.”
Annoyance crossed his face. “Sweetheart, if we survive the next ten minutes, you’re going to testify.”

I loved Andrusha but Olivia I absolutely adored. She was so strong and such a beautiful person that had such bad luck in her life. I appreciate that the author didn’t change Olivia’s personality as the story went on. I’ve read Mafia books where the heroine is a doormat in the beginning, and then out of nowhere, she’s this sexy, mouthy woman that the hero can’t resist. Olivia, however, was such a lovable character.

“He had told me that saving me was his atonement for living the life he did, but he didn’t seem to realize that it was his love that had saved me, not his guns.”

The chemistry between Andrusha and Olivia was off the charts! The pace was absolutely perfect, we got to see their relationship as friends and then how that developed into so much more.

Barbarian’s Heart (Ice Planet Barbarians #9) by Ruby Dixon

32602258._SY475_SYNOPSIS

I’ve never spent a day without my mate since arriving on the ice planet. I’m happy and in love, and we have a beautiful child together. All that changed when the world shook.
My mate nearly died.
He wakes up from his coma…and he can’t remember me. Or our son. Every memory of the past two years is gone. And that changes everything between us. How can I love someone that doesn’t remember me?
How can I not, when I know he’s still my mate underneath it all?

MY REVIEW

5 stars

I was so sure that I would not like this one but it was one of the best ones yet.

The book begins when the Tribe’s home has fallen due to the earthquake that ruined almost everything. Pashov was badly injured and has lost his memory. He doesn’t remember the humans, the ship they came in and he does not remember his mate Stacey and their kit, Pacy.

“You are who you are. Make no apologies for it.” He presses a kiss to my forehead. “I would change nothing about you.”

Stacey is struggling. Her heart is broken when Pashov wakes up and doesn’t remember her or their child. Not only that, but they now have to move from their safe haven and travel to another place. Stacey isn’t interested in hunting or outdoors activities, and so the travelling is not easy on her. While moving with her tribe, she deals with her feelings for Pashov who’s very distant.

“It is time to stop ignoring what has happened. I am not whole. I am missing a vital part of who I am…because I am missing you, Stay-see.”

I loved their relationship! We didn’t really get to see how they fell in love so this story shows us how strong their relationship really is. There were some parts in this book that irked me; their communication! They confused each other (and me) with their lovey dovey scenes only then to start ignoring each other!
Overall, a very good love story!

Barbarian’s Taming (Ice Planet Barbarians #8) by Ruby Dixon

31818909._SY475_SYNOPSIS

As a newcomer to the alien tribe, I’ve struggled to find my place. It might be because I’m a tad headstrong at times. And yes, I might have thrown a few things at people’s heads. But I had a good reason to pitch a fit – my shy sister was stolen away right under my nose. Of course, now she’s back and mated. Everyone’s happy… except me.

I need… affection.
Attention.
Okay, I’m lonely. Really lonely.

Strangely enough, the only person that I think understands what I’m going through is the same blue-skinned brute that stole my sister. It’s wrong to hook up with him, even as a mindless fling.

Except… I’m not so good with the whole ‘rules’ thing.
And he’s not so great with the ‘fling’ thing.

MY REVIEW

5 Hassen stars

I know some people found Maddie annoying in the previous book but I loved her. I also fell in love with Hassen in this one. He was everything. Brooding, determined and so sweet and loving with Maddie.

Maddie is feeling alone and left out in a tribe full of couples and kits. She didn’t have the best introduction when she first arrived at the sa-kuhi’s home. With her sister getting kidnapped and with the cold weather on the ice-planet she took out her anger on the members of the tribe. But when Lila returns with a mate, Maddie feels like she has lost her sister in a way. While almost everyone loves Lila, they are a bit distant and careful around Maddie.

“I know what it’s like to be ignored. I know what it’s like to feel like everyone in the world is against you. I know what it feels like to be on the outside and wanting desperately to be accepted.”

Hassen, who’s been exiled as a punishment for kidnapping and trying to force resonance with Lila, is also all alone. All he’s ever wanted is a mate and a family and that is why he kidnapped Lila.

When Lila, Rokan and a few other couples leave for a hunt, Maddie seeks comfort in Hassen. They quickly become ‘friends’ (although for Hassen, Maddie is his the moment they get it on) and spend almost every moment together.

A lot of stuff happens in this book and it tells more than just Hassen and Maddie’s love story.

Barbarian’s Touch (Ice Planet Barbarians #7) by Ruby Dixon

30524238._SY475_SYNOPSIS

When I wake up on the ice planet, I’m scared of everything: this place is cold, silent, and the locals look more like blue devils than aliens. To make matters worse, one of the strangers decides I’m going to be his girlfriend and kidnaps me away from my sister. I’m completely and utterly alone. What’s a girl to do?
Well, this girl escapes.
Of course, that means I go from frying pan into the fire, and my situation gets even more dangerous. Just when I have no hope left, a new hero appears. Sure, he’s blue, horned, and has a tail. He’s also fierce, protective, makes me purr… and thinks I’m perfect.
But is what we have real or just a mating instinct?

MY REVIEW

3.5 Stars!

This one was…a bit too slowish for me.

We get two new human females in this book and one of them is Lila, deaf and scared. She arrived on the ship that Kira crashed into the mountain in third book Barbarian Lover. Lila and her sister, Maddie, have been in the tubes for a year and are released by the sa-kuhi’s and Kira.

When the sa-kuhi’s and Kira take the two new humans to get their kuhi’s, Lila is kidnapped by Hassen who’s sure he and Lila will resonate. Lila, however, only feels fear when Hassen is near and when the opportunity arises, she escapes Hassen and stumbles upon the metlaks, only to be saved by Rokan, her mate.

I loved how calm Rokan was with Lila. Trying to make her feel comfortable and learning sign language to be able to communicate with her. They were a cute couple but not my favourite, all through the book I kind of loved the scenes with Maddie the most.

Barbarian’s Mate (Ice Planet Barbarians #6) by Ruby Dixon

29623967._SY475_SYNOPSIS

‘Resonance’ is supposed to be a dream – that’s when your soulmate is chosen for you. And everyone on the ice planet has hooked up with a big, hunky soulmate of their own… except me. So do I want a mate? Heck yeah. More than anything, all I’ve ever wanted is to be loved by someone.
Except that the soulmate chosen for me? My least favorite person on the darn ice planet. Haeden’s the most cranky, disapproving, unpleasant, overbearing male alien… so why is it that my body sings when he gets close? Why is he working so hard to prove to me that he’s not as awful as I think he is? I hate him… don’t I?

MY REVIEW

4 Haeden Stars!

I’ve loved Haeden since he first appeared in the previous books. He is the real brooding alpha in this tribe. Josie, though, was very annoying in the beginning of this book and I wanted to slap her every time she turned Haeden away.

“But make no mistake – if you leave this world, I will not be long behind, because I cannot live without you.”

The book begins when Josie’s IUD falls down her legs and she’s excited because she will now resonate with one of the unmated alien males. Only when she finds out that her khui sings to Haeden’s khui, she’s devastated.

Haeden was everything. When he resonated to Josie, he was shocked but then he was longing for his mate. He’d been alone for so long and wanted his Josie to accept him. Josie however would not accept Haeden, she wanted someone kind and soft and so she suggests they travel to the elders cave and get new khui’s so that they can resonate to other people.

“Just once, I wish she would look back. I wish she would see me, waiting on the horizon for her. Waiting to take care of her. To comfort her. To be her man and her mate and whatever else she needs.”

Things don’t go exactly how Josie plans and they end up spending alot of time alone. I loved when Josie finally let Haeden close to her, when she finally saw him as her mate and accepted him as he was.

“You are my life, my heart, my everything.”
